CD vs CD: Samjawadi Party leader Amar Singh released a CD accusing UPA of witch-hunt.
New Delhi: Supreme Court’s order to go for CBI probe in the disproportionate assets case against UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav—has opened fresh battlegrounds between Congress and Samjawadi Party.
While UPA leaders are demanding Mulayam’s resignation, Samajwadi party released a CD accusing the government of witch-hunt and political vendetta against Mulayam.
On Thursday evening, Singh had released an audio CD in which the petitioner was allegedly heard making certain remarks against the judiciary.
“All of us are fighting this battle of undeclared emergency imposed by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in UP. The CD shows that it was all a witch hunt,” said Samajwadi party General Secretary Amar Singh.
Congress is unwilling to take this lying down. “When a PIL is filed in a high court or the Supreme Court, Government itself becomes a party,” clarified I&B Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi.
Both the houses of Parliament were disrupted on Friday as angry Samajwadi Party members protested against the CBI probe alleging a political conspiracy planned by the Congress.
Now, it’s a CD for a CD. The Congress is now working on a CD to list Mulayam’s multiple failures, the high point being Nithari killings. As elections draw closer, the UP political scene is likely to get murkier. There will be more mudslinging, more raining of abuses. After all stakes are high for political parties involved.
