Wants an amicable solution to the Singur issue
Kolkata: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Rural Development Ministry to prepare a policy on effective land use against the backdrop of the Singur issue.
Aware of the situation
"The Prime Minister is aware of the entire situation and this sort of problem has been reported from other States," West Bengal Congress general secretary Manas Bhuinya told reporters on Saturday night after a party delegation met the Prime Minister at the Raj Bhavan.
Stating that Dr. Singh was aware of the controversy over the land acquisition for a Tata Motors project in Singur and the fast by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on the issue, Mr. Bhuinya said the Prime Minister had told the delegation that he wanted an amicable solution.
