Chennai : Chennai Corporation’s deputy mayor R Thiagarajan on Saturday approached the Chief Election Commissioner to seek restoration of the personal security provided to him earlier and to direct the Tamil Nadu DGP to desist from registering false cases against him. ??I request you to direct the Chief Electoral Officer and DGP to restore my PSO and also desist from registering false cases at the behest of AIADMK leaders and the Chief Minister,’’
Thiagarajan, who was removed from the AIADMK and is also set to join the Congress, said in a letter to the CEC. Alleging that he had reliably come to know that City Police Commissioner R Natraj had been instructed to arrest him on some pretext, the deputy mayor, who has not been attending office for about six months, claimed the entire official machinery was being forced to take some punitive action against him to keep him away from campaigning for the DMK-led front. - PTI
