Women turn up in large number for voting

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Women turned up in large numbers for voting in the Assembly elections held on Saturday in the Kuttipuram Assembly Constituency, where the Indian Union Muslim League leader P.K. Kunhalikutty has contested.

An analysis of the polling percentages in the constituencies that went to polls in the second phase shows that Kuttippuram has the third highest polling percentage of women.

Nearly 69,000 women voted in the constituency, while the turnout of men was fewer than 60,000. The polling percentage of women and men stood at 81.99 per cent and 79.48 per cent, respectively.

The highest polling percentage of women was recorded in the Mankada constituency (87.69 per cent) followed by Meppayyur (84.42).
