Actors Vindiya and Kovai Sarala too were present

CHENNAI : Actor Simran participated in an election campaign meeting of the AIADMK here on Sunday. Hundreds gathered at Seniamman Koil street in Tondiarpet in support of P.K.Sekar Babu, the party’s contestant from R.K. Nagar constituency.

The atmosphere was euphoric and party members screamed every time Simran raised her hand to indicate the party’s symbol. Among others from the Tamil industry present on the occasion were actors Vindiya, Kovai Sarala and choreographer Raghuram.

"In Amma’s regime, there is no water problem. Roads are good and rowdyism has been curbed. Please vote for two leaves," said Simran, clad in a jeans, white kurta and bandini dupatta, in her short speech.

Vindiya, who said the day was as important as her birthday and the first day of her acting career, asked lyricist Snehan to read out a couple of lines from Kavingnar Kannadasan’s book `Naan paartha Arasiyal’.

Kovai Sarala said in the last five years, the state had benefited from several schemes such as free food and free bicycles. "Women are doing extremely well in self help groups. So many women’s police stations have come up," she said. There was plenty of Opposition-bashing in the actor’s charged speech.

Choreographer Raghuram said many film producers were very angry with the Opposition. "The CM has done so much for the film industry. We are all here to express our gratitude," he said.

Simran was the last speaker. Once she finished, people thronged all sides of the dais, trying to get a closer glimpse of the actor.
