Visakhapatnam-I repoll is scheduled for April 24

VISAKHAPATNAM: Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna has asked the electorate to teach a lesson to the TDP in the Visakhapatnam-I byelection repoll scheduled for April 24. Addressing a meeting of Congress workers here on Sunday, he wanted partymen to work with vigour and campaign for the success of party nominee Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao.

Mr. Ramakrishna said that development not only in the constituency but also in the entire district came to a standstill owing to the postponement of the election. Launching of the expansion work of the steel plant and funds to the Municipal Corporation had also been affected because of the postponement, he said.

False campaign

Accusing the TDP of unleashing a false campaign, the Minister said former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had not paid attention to the development of the city. Party workers should highlight the development that was taking place in the Rajasekhars Reddy regime, he said. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the TDP was daydreaming of wresting the seat. The Congress’ victory was a foregone conclusion, he said.

VUDA Chairman P.S.N. Raju and PCC members Qureshi and S. Gopal participated.
