"Jayalalithaa government enhanced living standards of farmers"

Tuticorin : MDMK leader Vaiko said a wave of support for AIADMK was visible across the state during the last 10 days of election campaigning, thanks to efforts taken by the Jayalalithaa-led government to enhance the living standards of farmers.

Campaigning at Vilathikulam on Sunday, he said Uzhavar Pathukappu Thittam launched by the government not only provided welfare measures to the farmers but also instilled confidence in the minds of the farming community that the present state government would stand with them forever.

Similarly, timely distribution of free textbooks by the government was a blessing in disguise for the poor and needy, he said.

The free bicycles to girl students made sure that they reached their respective homes comfortably.

He ridiculed the DMK’s promise that colocur TV sets would be given free to entire household post-elections and asked "do they plan to give cable TV coverage too free of cost?"

AIADMK Candidates for Ottapidaram and Vilathikulam,P Mohan and Chinnappan, were present alongside Vaiko at the stage.
