New judges for Supreme Court

New Delhi: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has appointed Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Devinder Kumar Jain and Delhi High Court Chief Justice Markandey Katju Supreme Court judges. They will be sworn in on Monday by Chief Justice of India Y.K. Sabharwal.

Justice D.K. Jain (58) was initially appointed Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on March 19, 1991 and made permanent judge on January 23, 1992.

He was elevated Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court last year.

Justice Katju (59) was appointed permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court on November 30, 1991.
