Focus is on door-to-door canvassing
ERODE: DMK alliance parties have started election campaign in right earnest. DMK candidate for the Erode Assembly segment is N.K.K.P. Raja.
Last evening a meeting of workers of allied parties was held at Erode in which the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Women Empowerment, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, former Minister N.K.K. Periyasamy, Congress, CPI, CPM and PMK leaders addressed the members.
Disciplinary action
The speakers wanted the workers to concentrate on door-to-door campaign.
At the DMK alliance workers’ meeting at Bhavani, organised by the Congress, it was unanimously resolved to take disciplinary action against the workers who work against the alliance candidate.
The CPI candidate for Perundurai constituency, N. Periyasamy, who represented the constituency from 1996-2001, will start electioneering from Sunday. Mr. Periyasamy said the Avinashi Athikadavu Project would be focused in his electioneering.
He would ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the residents of Perundurai, Uthukuli and Vijayamangalam areas.
The Congress candidates, Mr R.M. Palanisamy (Modakurichi) and Mr Vidiyal Sekar (Kangeyam), will visit the constituency on Sunday and organise the workers’ meetings.
New strategy
The AIADMK candidate for Erode, E.R. Sivakumar, is formulating a new strategy to woo the voters. .
The MDMK candidate for Vellakoil constituency, Mr A. Ganesamurthy, have started door-to-door campaign in Muthur and Moolanure.
Hill area
Sathyamangalam MDMK candidate T.K. Subramaniam has been camping at Thalawady hill area for the last three days canvassing votes.
