CHENNAI: No history of modern India would be complete without a reference to the Tatas—nation-builders, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. On the death centenary of the founder of the Tata group of companies, JN Tata and the birth of JRD Tata and Naval Tata, the House of Tatas has put up a multimedia exhibition, `Century of Trust’ at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam.

Not just a history of the Tatas, one also gets a peek into the various stages of the evolution of modern India at the aesthetically laid out expo which was inaugurated on Friday by Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, chairman of the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation. A chronicling of the rise of the Tata empire is seen alongside panels depicting the passage of Indian history. Lesser known Tata ventures like the group’s experimental fruit farm in Bangalore are showcased as well as the group’s peerless foray into the steel, airlines and education sectors. The Chennai edition is the fourth in the series of Tata roadshows that was inaugurated by President A.P.J Abdul Kalam in Bangalore last year. The previous fixtures in Mumbai and New Delhi had evoked a good response, said Atul Agarwal, general manager (Brand), Tata Services Limited. The expo is on till July 14.
