’Saffron alliance will form govt in Maharashtra’

Sunday 11 July 2004

Aurangabad, July 11: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today announced waiving of loans and free electricity for farmers if the saffron alliance comes to power in Maharashtra in the forthcoming Assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters, Thackeray, who was here to attend the two-day conclave of Sena to chalk out party’s strategy for the polls, claimed that the BJP-Shiv Sena would form the next government in the state.

Warning party officials that corruption would not be tolerated at any level, he said when the party comes to power, even the Chief Minister would not be spared if found to be involved in corruption.

He said Sena’s slogan for the election would be "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Kamgar" and added that since the number of workers had increased substantially, their welfare also needed to be taken care of.

Thackeray is scheduled to address the concluding session of the conclave later in the day.

To a query whether any member of the Thackeray family would become the Chief Minister if the party comes to power, the Sena supremo just said, "It is a secret". (Agencies)
