Like previous years, of the 65,000 H1-B visas allotted by the US government for skilled professionals, Indians will top the list this year too, overseas career management and immigration services companies confirm.
One can start the H1-B application and get the petition sanctioned by the US government from April 1 onwards, but can enter the country only after October 1, 2004.
Of the 65,000 H1-B visas, Indians invariably subscribe to a major chunk of about 30,000, which is allotted for professionals with ’specialised occupation’ with relevant work experience.
There are nearly 1,000 consulting firms dominated by Indians in the US, which sponsor Indian H1-B professionals. Each firm, on an average recruits 30 to 40 Indian professionals, says an industry source.
