Kolkata: The setback to the Congress in the Uttarakhand and Punjab Assembly elections should be a lesson in learning for the party, veteran Marxist leader, Jyoti Basu, told newspersons here on Friday.
"The reversals were because organisationally, politically and economically it [the Congress] has failed. "They [the Congress leaders] should draw lessons from that [the results]," he said.
On the proposed amendments to legislation aimed at increasing the availability of land for industry, commerce and infrastructure in the State over which there are some differences between some Left Front constituents and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Mr. Basu said that talks were on with the parties concerned.
