Lucknow: Keeping an eye on the forthcoming Assembly election scheduled this year in the state, the Uttar Pradesh Government headed by Mulayam Singh has decided to give an unemployment allowance to the youths who have completed their graduation and post graduation and are registered in the employment exchange of the state.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh here today.
The Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh had announced during the last Assembly elections that he would give an unemployment allowance to the youths if his party forms its Government in the state.
There are 855,323 unemployed youths registered in the various employment exchanges of the state. The decision to give unemployment allowance to the youths would come into force from April 1, 2006.
The Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Government, Navin Chandra Bajpayee, told newsmen here yesterday after the Cabinet meeting that the Uttar Pradesh Government would give Rs500 per month (Dh41) as the unemployment allowance to the youths who had registered their names in the employment exchange of the state.
