Madurai : In a lack-lustre speech that drew few cheers, Congress president Sonia Gandhi launched the election campaign of the Democratic Progressive Alliance in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, promising that good work of the UPA government would be replicated in the state if the DMK-led alliance was voted to power in the May 8 Assembly election. The UPA and the DPA could work in tandem to deliver to the people of Tamil Nadu all they needed, she said.

Addressing a gathering of Congress workers and sympathisers of alliance parties at the Tamukkam Maidan, Sonia said: ??We have all shown to you how much we can do, how much has been done at the Central level and we want to show and prove to you how much we can do at the state level if you vote for the DPA. Together, the UPA and the DPA will work day and night to deliver to the people of Tamil Nadu, to each and every person in this beautiful state, all that they need.’’ Sonia flew into Madurai after addressing an election meeting in Pondicherry.
