KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar Agricultural Market Committee chairman Y. Sunil Rao has flayed the Telugu Desam Party leaders for shedding "crocodile tears" on the welfare of the farming community for gaining political mileage during the local bodies elections.

In a pres note here on Sunday, Mr. Rao charged that the TDP was making false and baseless allegations against the Government during its Palle Palleku TDP programme. He alleged that the TDP, which is scared of defeat in the local bodies elections, was talking about free power issue and welfare of farmers. He ridiculed the TDP leaders’ demand for distribution of capacitors free of cost to the farmers when they opposed free power during their nine-year regime.

He said that the Government had been fulfilling all its election promises including free power to the farmers, execution of irrigation projects, increased the pensions from Rs. 50 to Rs. 200 and others.

He said that the people would teach a fitting lesson to the TDP in the coming elections for making false allegations and deceiving the people.
