KURNOOL, JUNE 24. The Superintending Engineer, Central Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh, P. Ramulu, has said all agriculture connections in the district would be brought under High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) in three years.

The project costing Rs. 190 crores would be funded by Rural Electrification Corporation. In the first year, 20 per cent of network would be developed while the remaining two years would cover 40 per cent each. Mr. Ramulu said 25 kva and 16 kva mini-transformers would be installed to cater to the needs of two to five farmers. The distance between the transformer and the pumpset would not be more than three poles, which would help maintenance of proper voltage. Since addition of a new pumpset would bring down voltage level, farmers would not allow any unauthorised connections. New connections would be allowed only after necessary infrastructure was created.
